Mon., Jan. 9: Meet York Audubon’s new vice-president Andrew Wolfgang! He will share his experiences working in State Parks, USFWS, and for the National Park Service. Learn how Andrew developed a passion for birding. Luther Memorial Church, Time: 7:00 P.M.
Sat., Jan. 14: Trip to Gettysburg National Battlefield for our annual Winter Wildlife Watching tour with licensed guide Dave Weaver. Coordinator: Tish Swam 717-235-2578. Meet inside the Visitors’ Center at 12:45 for the 1:00 P.M. tour. Fee required. Inclement weather date is Jan. 21.

Mar. 24 through Apr. 13, 2017: Audubon Photography Awards Show, cosponsored by York Audubon Society and Susquehanna Heritage. Location: Columbia Crossing River Trail Center in Columbia, PA. Walk among the winning bird photographs from the 2016 Audubon Photography Awards and learn more about your local bird life. Selected from over 7,000 entries-submitted from all 50 states, DC and Canada-these winners are stunning! The hours are Wed-Sat 10AM to 4PM and Sunday 12PM to 4PM. Call 717-449-5607 for more info.
Sat., Apr. 1: Annual York Audubon Society Banquet at East Berlin Area Community Center. Come early for silent auction, raffle and 50/50. Dinner served at 6:00 P.M. Guest speaker Gordon Dimmig presents “Into the Amazon”, featuring beautiful photos depicting what it was like to live and work with birds in the Amazon jungle for 10 weeks. Cost: $20 per person. Wed., Apr 5, 6 to 7PM: “Getting Hooked on Birds: An Introduction to Birdwatching” Presented by Carolyn F. Mathur, President, York Audubon Society. Location: Columbia Crossing River Trail Center in Columbia, PA. The beautiful birds we see around us are a colorful gift from nature! If you want to learn more about birds and bird watching, Carolyn Mathur, President of York Audubon Society, will both entertain and educate in this presentation packed with suggestions for the new birder and bird photographer, along with some of the beautiful images she has captured along the way to becoming an avid birder and bird photographer! Sat., Apr 8: Birding field trip to Chestnut Grove Natural Area in Conestoga, Lancaster County. You can car pool at 8:30 from York County by meeting at York Galleria near Boscov’s, or meet at Columbia Crossing River Trail Center at 9 AM in Columbia, Lancaster County. Sat., Apr. 22: Trip to Wildwood Lake in Harrisburg to look for waterfowl and songbirds. Leader: Dick Humbert 717-266-1864. Meet at Emigsville Exit # 24 off I-83 at Park ‘N Ride near York Barbell at 8:30 A.M. to carpool.
Sat., Apr. 29: New Birders’ Walk at Lake Redman Boardwalk to see holdover ducks, osprey and early migrant birds. Leader: Chuck Berthoud 717-608-2614. Co-leader: Dick Cleary. Meet at the parking lot on Ironstone Hill Road at 9:00 A.M. (Designed for new birders, but all are welcome).

Sat., June 10: Annual York Audubon Society Picnic at 12 noon. Bring a covered dish to share and your utensils. Pavilion has electric and a grill. This year we will be at William Kain Park at 274 Hess Farm Road, York 17407. Look for the “Muskie” pavilion. Hiking, birding, boating and relaxing!!
